Rush Out and Buy Your Potting Soil

I have some sick kind of belief that if it's technically spring, it should start acting like spring outside!  However, here we sit at home - the yard's drifted, the gravel road is drifted, so there's really no point in venturing out.  Besides, we're fully stocked with 3 gallons of milk for Gabrielle, so we're set!    Max and Pebbles are happy to hang out in the mudroom until the 'wet-dog' stink takes over; they look at me with that "you can't be serious" face when I open the door to let (or realistically, push) them out.  I look at the holiday trailer with its snow drifts up past the door and I can't help but be irritated.  I'll admit - there have been quite a few choice words for Mother Nature the last couple days.  Last week we sat on the south deck in our t-shirts ... and now I'm shoveling it off.  The only good thing about being snowed in is that we won't have any company ... and I won't need to shovel a path to the front door!  I sit inside with my Peavey Mart Flyer and look at the gardening section.  They live in Alberta too .... they can't be seriously advertising potting soil.  I think I should rush right out and pick some up before they're out of stock.

Getting caught up on my Raising Miss Daisy orders is the only good thing about this weather ... but it might be too much of a good thing.  Until this morning, I didn't think that 'crafting' could give you blisters or calluses.  I stand corrected.  When the weather decides to smarten up and lets me leave my island of snow, Canada Post is going to make a killing on what I'm mailing out this week!

My next projects?  Creating 16 newborn props for Bonnie - that in itself should be enough!  I can't wait to see them in action, especially the hammock :)

But back to my snow issues - I have a question for you - what's the best thing about being snowed in?

I've Broke Down and Jumped on the Blogger Bandwagon...

I said I wasn't in to having a blog ... but here I am anyways!

Anyways, my day's events made it easy to write this first post.  If I had to give it a title, I think it might be "Mommy's Little Helper."  My dear daughter, who has just recently turned one, thinks that she should sneak into my office at the most opportune times (aka. when I'm not looking).  For those of you who have been to my Raising Miss Daisy website, you'll probably have no trouble believing that my office is full of projects on the go, customer orders ... and of course, yarn and embroidery thread galore.

I knew something was wrong when the house got too quiet this afternoon.  Every mom knows that's not a good sign.  As I began the 'grid search' in hopes of locating the little darling, I could suddenly hear squeals of delight.  Knowing those squeals were coming from the office, I could only imagine what I would find.  It was worse than I imagined.  Not only had she unraveled 10+ balls of yarn (which were conveniently wrapped around every inch of her), but she also managed to unravel a near-completed hat.  She needs some kind of speed award for what she accomplished in just a few opportune minutes.  Perfect!  But how could I be upset ... she had the biggest smile on her face and it looked like it was the highlight of her day!  My hubby convinced me that the lever door handles were a nice touch when we built the house ... but now I'm not so sure when I see my little sidekick maneuvering her way into a closed room.  I guess she'll keep us on our toes ;)

FYI: Amanda - I re-crocheted the hat and it's just about done ... again!

Lesson of the Day: Look for child-proof lever handle covers when I'm out and about!
